Happy Birthday PatCHy!

Imagine the following being sung in a lovely voice (unlike my singing voice):

Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday to you!
Happy Birthday dear Patrick!
Happy Birthday to you!

And many happy returns! (whatever the heck that means--I never did understand this line, but it's supposed to be some kind of good wish, so I'll go with it) :)

Oh good grief! LOL.

Thanks, Jess. That's a lovely e-singing voice you got there.

When I was in A Capella Choir in college, we had this tradition of bellowing out "Happy Birthday" in the worst way possible. It was just this dumb, juvenile ironic thing that - here we were, the best singers on campus - sounding really awful.
It was all about the enjoyment of those singing, NOT the birthday boy or girl.
When I taught at Winfield, there was a large group of mostly-single teachers and a few others who would often go to dinner, movies, and concerts together. At birthday dinners, they'd always try to sing. I DESPISE birthday celebrations in restaurants, so I would either threaten them or - the funniest one - I'd sing along so that no one could tell it was my birthday!
