Wow!

Before I go back to Ireland photos, I had to share this photo. It's not mine.

It's an AP photo of a fire retardant air drop on one of the fires in California. This is one of those photos that can't be planned. I'm sure the photographer just happened to be in the right place at the right time. With that said, if I were in his/her shoes, I'd be putting this on my wall. What a shot!

I'd love to know the effect that C-130 swooping so close by had on those people on the deck. Blown over? Slammed into the wall? No idea, but it has to be more than ruffled hair!

That red stuff can't be good in your lungs... But, I agree that's a great shot... I would've still been turning on the camera! Ha!

these fires have me very worried --the smoke can't be good for people to breathe, and this fire retardant spray can't be good either. They had a horrible holiday weekend and I worry about friends who live there, even though they are being very calm about it all and are staying elsewhere for a few days. Apparently they're spreading some kind of gels and foams all over structures to retard the flames--save the structure, but what about cleaning off the toxic gel afterwards?

Yah, no doubt those people on the deck won't be catching fire any time soon.

Although, I think the plane might not be as close to the house as it appears. Zoom lens, perhaps?

Still, a truly great shot.

(I love when the auto-complete tries to take on the word verification)

I wonder if that was photo-shopped. The front area of the red stuff looks suspect. Also, if the fire was that close to the dumping red stuff, those folks would be evacuated.

I'm just sayin'

ATG: Yeah, isn't it?

TH: Yes, it can't be good to breathe any of it!

DC: Supposedly, a lot of this stuff is non-toxic. I hope that's so.

Greg: A zoom lens would make sense. Some compression might make it look even closer to the house, but it still couldn't have been too far from it!

CD: Perhaps, but it is an AP photo. Not that those don't ever get messed with, but it's unusual and usually gets found out by someone. As for the people being there, the retardant drops sometimes are done as preventive measure, if they're trying to use backfires not too far off and are making sure nothing spreads (or so I understand).
