Unusual rugby maneuvers

So Mike's running along when he gets tripped up by a guy from the other team. And what happens?

Now was that a run or what? (BTW, you should see him without his shirt!) :)

And later, Mike (from above) scores a try...

And that should do for this post!

Let the rugby photo sharing begin!

Okay, if a picture is worth a thousand words, then what's above constitutes an 18,000-word post, and I think that's plenty! ;)

For the next rugby post, I have one of the more unusual runs I've seen in rugby. It's something! You'll see! (And it doesn't even star our usual Aussie photo star!) :)

Photo delays

I was involved in a presentation at the Bar Association last night, so I didn't get to do any photo editing then. I thought I'd have plenty of time tonight, but the phone was ringing when I walked in the house. It was my brother. My sister-in-law needed to go to the hospital. So I went to take her while he watched the kids until someone else could get there (their grandmother, specifically).

As you may recall, she had a C-section three weeks ago. Since then, she developed kidney stones. She was doing okay until today, but tonight she wound up in excruciating pain, was throwing up, etc. So I took her in. She'll be okay, but a blast of Dilaudid followed by a blast of morphine, both injected right into her veins, wasn't enough to completely knock out the pain. Normally, that's about enough to knock a whole football team on its collective ass, so she's in a lot of pain. Anyhow, they're taking care of her, and this will pass (literally) soon. I waited for my brother to arrive, and then I came home.

Anyhow, by the time I got home, a little while ago, it was too late to start with the photos. So I have to make you wait a bit longer for rugby photos.

Okay, I have some done, so here are a few to hold you for now... :)

But the rest will have to wait!

Happy Birthday to a very special young man

Suppose I told you about a smart, handsome 25-year-old gay man who lived an independent life until he met two young boys who needed a home. This young man could date other guys, unencumbered by parental responsibilities, and enjoy his youth, as most like him would do.

But these two boys, age five and one, needed a foster home, and this special young man couldn't keep from sharing his love and his loving home with them. Six months later, as this young man is turning 26, these two very lucky boys are seeing their foster dad turn into their real dad, as their adoption is finalized.

A young man with the option to just have fun and think about himself instead dedicated his life to two little boys. It has made his life tougher, but I know he feels much richer for it.

I have gotten to know this special man through his blog, through e-mails and, recently, through some chatting. He's really amazing.

I'm talking about Cooper of Cooper's Corridor. Tomorrow is his birthday. So please join me in wishing him a very happy birthday! You can follow the link to his blog and leave him a comment (or go into his profile and send him an e-mail).

He's one of the people who really gives me hope for mankind!

Jess, wasn't there rugby this weekend?

Why, yes! Yes, there was rugby this weekend! In fact, here's a member of the team after they won their quarterfinal match...

Lots more photos to come!

Pony's birthday night

Time to post a few shots from last Thursday, the night we celebrated Pony's birthday.

The birthday boy at his birthday dinner

I'm telling you, I just can't get a good photo of that boy. He's so much more handsome in person! Not that he looks horrible in the photo, but I just don't think it does him justice.

The lovely Brian

Brian is the partner of GB:NY organizer Mark. Unfortunately, Mark couldn't join us, since he was in Dallas, but Brian makes regular trips to Portland for business.

Handsome Andy (Andy, is this photo okay?)

Andy's blog is The Last Debate. Andy is a sweetheart. He lived in New York for years, and, once he had won our hearts, he scurried back to the west coast. Despite his abandoning us, we still love him and were glad to see him. :)

I don't know who that is with Pony, but I wouldn't mind getting to know him! (Yes, I'd share him with Marc.)

Andy getting a smooch from Toddy

Doesn't Andy look thrilled to be getting that smooch from Toddy? Okay, Toddy, maybe he just didn't want his picture taken. I'm sure he was thrilled with the smooch! :)

The podcast & a couple of Oregon photos

In important news, the latest episode of the Todd & Pony Show is now available. So go listen! We think it's a riot. Okay, so we're on it, but I hope you'll feel the same.

On Friday, we went to the coast. While there, I shot a few photos. Here are a couple of low-res versions...

Now I have to decide if I want to print them nice and big!

That's scary

I'm using the hotel's business center computer (we're still in Portland). I checked a few blogs and left a few comments before Marc told me it's time to get moving. He's right, but I decided to leave a quick blog post before heading out.

When I went to Blogger, I didn't have to log in. It went right to my blog. I guess it remembered from my comment sign-in, but that's a little scary. What if I didn't do this and some nasty blog-savvy person sat down here next? (Not that any blogger is nasty!)

Anyhow, Portland has been a blast, including one night Marc and I had that will require someone plying me with lots of drinks before I may reveal details. We even went on the Todd & Pony Show podcast. By the way, you don't need an iPod to listen to a podcast, so go listen. Our episode, now in post-production by Pony, should be available shortly. So if you don't know what we sound like, this is your chance!

Okay, Marc already went back to the room to finish checking that we packed everything, so I should go. We're heading out shortly. Then we'll meet Todd, Andy and Pony for dinner. I'll share more details when we get home. Bye for now!
