Very cool stuff: building block of life found in a comet

Yes, if you're an amateur science geek like me, this is very exciting! Can a visit from the Vulcans be far behind?

Seriously, finding one of life's building blocks in a comet is more evidence that life can, and probably does, exist in lots of places in the universe, not just here. I'm sure this is more reason for the Jeebus nuts to hate people like me (you know, there's nothing about this in that book they love), but I can't help but be fascinated by the universe. Thinking... a dangerous thing! ;)

I must challenge you....my reading of the Bible tells me that it is clear there is life out there. To quote, "I have other sheep not of your fold." In another translation, "I have other sheep ye know nothing about." To me, that means that, contrary to the claims of some self-righteous affiliation zealots, they are going to be VERY surprised in paradise (if they make it) when they find others there who they have spent their earthly lives denying and killing and hating. To me, this passage could be referring to those of different faiths or beliefs or life-forms. Reminds me of the old joke about a member of one denomination who was being given his tour of Heaven. When they came to the area occupied by one group who believes in the "us only" doctrine, his tour guide said, "let's keep it quiet--these guys think they're the only ones here."

I read this to Charlie, who instantly answered "Yes!"

How disappointed (or excited!) we shall all be to find out that God is really Zaphod Beeblebrox.
