Busy

There just hasn't been much time to blog this week. Even today, we had lots of things to do. One of those things may spawn some photos worth posting, but that will come in a later post. The photos were from a flower show. We'd gone to this show, held at a nearby university, in prior years. This year, instead of being free, they charged $8 per person. In exchange, they had a lot less to look at. So who worked out that plan?

In other news, I went for an exam at the optometrist. This is part of the process of deciding whether I'm a good candidate for LASIK (so far, it looks good). Then I have to decide if I want to go through the very expensive process of getting my eyes fixed. The surgeon we'd be using is supposed to be one of the very best, so that's good. Also, they guarantee to get it right. Since I have astigmatism as well as being nearsighted (I almost typed bearsighted, but let's not go there), it's a little more complicated than some but apparently nothing they can't handle.

I'll keep you updated on what I wind up doing. Whatever I do, I think it will wait until after our big trip to Europe (three weeks from now).

Other things to mention today: one of the unions where I work is giving out flyers about a "National Day of Action Rally for Immigrant Rights" on Monday. They're asking people who attend (this rally is at City Hall in Manhattan from 3-7pm, if you're in the area and want to go) to wear a white shirt. That's an interesting "sign of peaceful protest," as their flyer calls it. It should make a great visual, if everyone does that.

That's about it for now. I have to get back to my chores!

I hope everyone's having a great weekend!

I'm interested in what happens with your LASIK decision. My husband has been considering it ever since the military approved the surgery for aviators. He has astigmatism too. But if it goes wrong, there goes his career.

Besides, I think he looks sexy in glasses.

Keep us posted. 8-)

Hope you had a great weekend. Thanks for the comments on my blog!

And I went in for that same appointment with LASIK, but they told me I had really big pupils (and I wasn't on any drugs) and so it would cost me much more then what I thought it would. I was expecting to spend $3,000... the total since I had "abnormal sized pupils" would be around $6,000 and there was a good chance I could get the halo effect. So I didn't get it done thinking maybe technology will bring something more precise soon.

Good luck with the eye doc - I've heard nothing but great things from people that have done lasik.

And a very belated happy birthday, Jess.
